
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will officially open the 38th National Games 2025 on Tuesday by performing the inauguration ceremony at Dehradun’s Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Uttarakhand.
The National Games 2025 will continue February 14, as 11,340 athletes from different parts of India participate.
Chilly Weather Presents Challenges for Swimmers
Swimmers participating in this year’s games find Dehradun’s cold climate challenging because they come from warmer areas. Swimmers expressed concern about the cold water, but Swimming Federation of India officials confirmed.
That the Haldwani National Games 2025 venue swimming pool at 270 km from Dehradun maintains a temperature range of 24-25°C for comfortable competition conditions.
Olympian Srihari Nataraj expressed that he has not yet tested the pool waters but is training for his upcoming 10-event competition, which includes five individual events and five relay events.
Olympic swimmer Sajan Prakash plans to restrict his competition this year because of training interruptions despite his collection of 26 National Games 2025 medals.

Opening Ceremony Highlights
International badminton player Lakshya Sen will transfer the torch to the Prime Minister during the National Games 2025 opening ceremony.
A total of 1,016 athletes from Uttarakhand will join 35 states’ athletes in a ceremonial parade at the opening ceremony. Multiple sports competitions in athletics, basketball, and additional games will be showcased at the upcoming event.
Athletics and Key Competitions at National Games 2025
One major competition at the National Games 2025 athletics section will see 700 athletes compete in multiple athletic disciplines.
The athlete count breakdown reveals Maharashtra leading with 822 participants, followed by Karnataka with 230 athletes Kerala with 220 athletes, and Delhi with 130 athletes.
National Games 2025 Venues and Participation Details
The National Games 2025 will take place across multiple venues in Dehradun, with key locations like the Maharana Pratap Sports College complex.
The diverse participation, including teams from all Indian states, along with the Services Sports Control Board’s 437 athletes, will make the 38th National Games 2025 one of the most significant multi-discipline events in recent years.

Adjusting Timelines for National Games 2025 in Uttarakhand
The National Games 2025 Uttarakhand also marks the third edition of the event in just four years, following the 2022 edition in Gujarat. IOA president P.T.
Usha expressed that the timing of the games had been adjusted to accommodate both the weather and athletes’ exam schedules.
A Spectacular Event Ahead
During the Dehradun event sports fans across the country will see India’s top athletes compete at their peak while 9500 athletes participate in 35 disciplines.
The weather conditions will create difficulties but the National Games 2025 promises to deliver an extraordinary spectacle to all participants.
