The Indian women’s hockey team will play against South Korea today in the second match of the Women’s Asian Hockey Champions Trophy.

This is an encounter with the three-time champion for India as they aim to keep the title after an impressive start.

India Takeover with its defense in a 4-0 Win over Malaysia

In their opening match yesterday, India went like a steamroller that rolled over Malaysia by a 4-0 margin, illustrating dominance when it matters the most.

Still, Malaysia was not able to finally penetrate the Indian defense, and it did not let India score any goals.

Both countries took numerous chances at penalty corners, which India used well, converting three out of several chances and a spectacular goal by Sangita Kumari sealed the win for them, thereby giving India a wonderful start to the tournament.

The cohesive way in which the Indians played and strategized throughout suggests that they are ready to tackle a South Korean side that has such a good record in this championship.

Elsewhere, the opening match was an all-fisting, all-blood affair between Japan and South Korea, which ended 2-2, though both lots showed decent resolve.

Maho Ueno and Saki Tanaka scoring for Japan, only for Mihyang Park and Yujin Lee to repel a debut in style that said it could only be that sort of tournament from the off.

Dominance of China

In another game, China reaffirmed its dominance against Thailand with an unbelievable 15-0.

Chinese turned out pretty dominant, especially in the last two quarters where it displayed an incredible 10 goals.

This high win sets up a really good level for the rest of teams and points out that China is in good shape.

India will look to go ahead with the momentum from the previous game and continue their winning streak as they prepare to take on South Korea, who are the defending champions of the tournament.

But experience and determination in the South Korean camp make them a serious challenger for India.

Thus, an all-important match between both the teams, which are eager to gain maximum crucial points, may thus be an exciting contest at Rajgir Hockey Stadium today.
