Puja Tomar, a 30-year-old mixed martial arts (MMA) star from the poor village of Budhana in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, has created a historical consequence in Indian sports and is now known all around the world for her ascent.

Tomar has become the first Indian female fighter to sign with the prestigious Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and secure a victory in the globally renowned organization.

Her groundbreaking win was on a Saturday night, June 8, at the UFC Louisville event. She was up against Rayanne Amanda dos Santos from Brazil, and she won by a split decision after a three-round hard contest.

Puja Tomar’s extraordinary career in the MMA industry is really an amazing story. She was born in a small village where the conditions were tough right from the very beginning.

She has obtained an intermediate level of mastery in the sport under the guidance of expert coaches; she has learned a broad array of skills, which include mastering throw techniques such as the Heel hook and punch techniques like the Sidekick. Tomar’s win at UFC Louisville was much more than just a personal achievement; it was a historical moment for Indian MMA. “I was confident in my ability to win, but I did not give one hundred percent. I was stressed in the second round, and I do not feel I’m strong in many areas, such as holding takedowns,” she said, and it is her humility and determination that have been the key to her success that are illustrated by her.

For Tomar, this win has a strong personal interpretation. She thanked her mother for her constant support, which was a crucial factor in her successful career. “MMA was a hard road for me. My mother is the reason I won this battle because she has fought with the world for me. So my victory is for her, too”, Tomar said, trembling with emotion.
