Suryakumar Yadav, mostly known by his initials SKY, is perhaps one of the most famous and undoubtedly amongst the most adaptable cricketers of the time.

“I don’t want to be just a captain, I want to be the leader of this side.”

In pursuit of achieving his domestic aspirations of being a fixture in Team India by just talent and solid contributions.

As having very special and successful methods of playing, Suryakumar looks very bright in the middle as he can blast quickly and that is more useful in T20 cricket.

Still, in the one-day format, he has not had an identical performance to the T20; he has played 37 ODIs for which he has 773 runs @ 25.77.

Half-century maker Yadav is yet to cement himself in the longer version of the game, but he has promise with 4 half-centuries to his name and a high score of 72.

Things have not been different in ODIs, where he has a strike rate of 105.03 a testimony that he can handle the pace of the game in this format.

Management and the Present Position of Captain

Suryakumar Yadav has been named captain in the continuing series of T20I against Bangladesh.

Having served as the stand-in captain for Rohit Sharma, who was unavailable for the series due to injury, he has led with passing success, with a lot of emphasis and proportionality.

Speaking of it in his own eloquent words, he says, “I don’t want to be the captain rather, I want to be the leader of this side, that is the difference.”

That statement speaks volumes about his character and his mission as a leader of a team and not as a star player.

Since becoming the India captain, he has brought newfound confidence back into the Indian dressing room and Suryakumar has been instrumental in grooming youngsters while also scoring plenty of runs himself.

Captaincy in the series against Bangladesh is thus viewed by many as a key and major milestone in his career, as it spices up his astonishing captaincy portfolio.

Outlook

Suryakumar Yadav’s career is a model example of how hard work and versatility lead to success. Whether it is the brutish‐shoveled T20I domineer, the magical IPL run, or the semi-fledged odyssey of his nascent ODI career, Suryakumar Yadav is not only a great player.

Whatever skills he displays, especially in the current McCullum series against Bangladesh, is an icon that Indian cricket requires both on and off the field.
