Yuzvendra Chahal, Indian cricketer and his wife, choreographer Dhanashree Verma have ended their 18-month separation. The couple, who had been married for almost three years, cited “compatibility issues” as the main reason for their divorce.
On Thursday, the last hearing and required legal proceedings were conducted at the Bandra Family Court. Chahal and Dhanashree arrived along with their respective legal teams at 11:00 AM.
The judge overseeing the case then ordered the couple to attend a reversible counseling session, which took about 45 minutes. Chahal and Dhanashree discussed their reasons behind filing for divorce during the session and mutually decided to part ways.
After the counseling process, the court proceedings took place and the final verdict was delivered at 4:30 PM. The judge also held that Yuzvendra Chahal and his wife Dhanashree Verma are no longer husband and wife.
After the court’s ruling, Chahal and Dhanashree posted about their respective feelings on the social media. Chahal uploaded a cryptic message on his Instagram Stories, indicating that he would bounce back with help from God.
His post said, “No matter how difficult the past is, you can always start over. Have faith in the process and the divine plan. Dhanashree had also shared a thoughtful post on faith and overcoming challenges.
“When things get tough, trust your belief & remember there is light at the end of each dark tunnel,” her post read. The duo got married in December 2020 in an extravagant wedding that was attended by many big names from the Indian cricket and entertainment industry.
Their wedding received extensive media coverage, and they regularly shared details of their lively and affectionate bond on social media. But speculation about whether the couple had split began in mid-2023 as Chahal and Dhanashree began posting cryptic messages on their social media accounts.
Though they attempted to set the record straight and present a united front, their break up was publicly confirmed later that year. Yuzvendra Chahal is one of India’s key players across formats owing to his various skills as a leg-spinner.
He has also gained a massive fan following due to his showings in the Indian Premier League (IPL). On the other hand, Dhanashree — a choreographer, influencer and YouTuber — has a considerable social media following.
Their fans and well-wishers hope whatever the personal growth and happiness for both the individuals now. The divorce puts to rest their marriage but opens a new chapter in their lives as Chahal and Dhanashree now foray into their Golden Period separately.
