On January 23, 2025 Venkatesh Iyer from Madhya Pradesh displayed great courage in the Ranji Trophy match against Kerala.
Just three balls into his innings, Iyer twisted his ankle and everyone watching him winced in pain and concern (including his teammates.)
There was a quick rush of the physio onto the field, but minutes later Iyer was seen leaving the field limping.
The master’s statement, however, oozed with grit & determination, Iyer returned back the crease after proper examination.
However, playing through the pain in his back he helped add a vital 42 runs off 80 balls.
All his fight, Punjab could only muster a commendable 160 for 8 and that gave some hope to Madhya Pradesh ” who looked lost as they entered the tension-filled chase.
Iyer’s determination and grit garnered praise and admiration from both fans and teammates.
With a great performance under his belt, he has been a huge reinforcement for Madhya Pradesh and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), who pounced on him in the IPL 2025 auction with a big bag of bucks.
