Csk skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni achieved the 200 IPL match landmark on 19th October, 2020 playing for the Chennai Super Kings.

The feat was achieved during the match of CSK against the Rajasthan Royals but the occasion was not so happy because this time also the CSK team bowled out in seventh match out of ten matches.

Records Broken

  • Most Matches Played:
    • Dhoni surpassed former teammate Suresh Raina, who held the record with 193 appearances.
    • Raina provided solidity and match-winning abilities, but Dhoni now stands alone at the top with 200 matches.

Not only does Dhoni’s latest heroics prove the fact that he has been around for quite a while now but also the patient and laconic contribution of the great leader and a finisher year in and year out.

These 200 appearances come as part of a long IPL career that began in the early years of this millennium, with Dhoni has steering the Chennai Super Kings to three IPL titles during the years 2010, 2011 and 2018.

Having Dhoni in the IPL is rather a strong factor for fans, especially those supporting the CSK team who admire their captain “Thala” for both leadership and performance skills.

How this feat puts him a head above Suresh Raina in terms of IPL Most-Capped Player

Even in this match, Dhoni broke a new record of accumulating the most number of matches in the tournament surpassing his old teammate from CSK Suresh Raina.

Raina, who had, for a long time, held the record for 193 appearances, brought solidity, reliability, and match-winning prowess.

Nonetheless, presently Dhoni is well and truly ‘one’ IPL and is still as calm, cool, collected, and clinically commanding behind the wicket-keeper’s stand as a captain needs to be.

Jersey for Player of the Match Jos Buttler

CSK lost the match to Rajasthan Royals in 7 wickets but the animation of the triumph was not dampened by Dhoni’s kind movement after the match.

The skipper then presented his t-shirt to Rajasthan Royals opening slugger Jos Butler who received the ‘Player of the Match’ prize after scoring a bright 70 off 48 balls to take his team home.

That shows how humble and abundant Dhoni is. This minute depicts how even other teams across the league praise him.
