Australia’s Test squad for the forthcoming series against Sri Lanka has welcomed the return of left-arm spinner Matthew Kuhnemann, who has regained fitness after injuring his thumb.
Kuhnemann underwent surgery after fracturing his thumb while playing in the Big Bash League, and was cleared to travel with the team just a week after his injury.
Kuhnemann thanked the medical team for helping him to recover quickly enough to bowl, bat and field pain-free.
His addition will be an enormous fillip for Australia, who are trying to end their spate of 14 years without a Test series victory in Sri Lanka.
