Jay Shah was Elected as the Youngest ICC Chairman, Succeeding Greg Barclay
This becomes a watershed moment for the world cricket fraternity as soon-to-be-elected International.
Cricket Council Chairman Jay Shah, Board of Control for Cricket in India, really raises the bar.
The chronologically youngest International Cricket Council Chairman, Jay Shah, will take charge on December 1, 2024, at the ripe age of 35.
Shah’s election as the ICC Chairman is a great milestone in his already impressive career.
His election was unopposed because a simplified nomination process occurred in which there were no other contestants.
This seamless change of command is another signal to that effect, showing that the community of international cricket has its faith in Shah to lead the sport toward new innovative directions.
A Vision for Globalizing Cricket
The first public statement after the announcement saw Shah say he is humbled by the nomination to the post of Chair of the International Cricket Council and that he is committed to working towards globalizing cricket.
“The nomination as the Chair of the International Cricket Council humbles me.
I am committed to working closely with the ICC team and our member nations to further globalize cricket from my position over the coming years,” Shah said.
He wants cricket to be more open and reach a bigger audience, especially towards the new market potentials all over the world.
One of the key objectives Shah has set his mind on is bringing in a balance within the coexistence of all the formats in the sport.
While evolution is happening- from five-day Test matches to ‘faster’ T20s-the cricket administrator believes every version needs equal promotion and support.

Shah’s leadership will be indispensable in guiding through the pitfalls and possibilities arising out of this historic event.
