Second Test | Green Park, Kanpur | September 27, 2024 |
The first Test will be starting from September 19 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai and the second Test begins on September 27 at Green Park, Kanpur.
The Bengal Tigers, for instance, had recently registered their maiden Test series triumph in Pakistan when they were emphatic with a 10-wicket thrashing in the initial match and a six-wicket triumph in the second match, too.
This has helped build very high morale to the team before a tough tour to India which is a very difficult place to play in as the Indian cricket team dominates on home soil. But as per Shanto, this has the potential to aid their intention Bangladesh cricket has.
Shanto said before flying to Dhaka: “We have the extra confidence for the win of the Pakistan series.” “Perhaps the whole country has that confidence now.
Every series is a chance, and we would like to win both Tests, but to achieve that, we have to be patient and stick to our process. If we do our job, then we can get this good result. ”

“We have the extra confidence from winning the Pakistan series. Every series is a chance, and we would like to win both Tests. To achieve that, we need to stick to our process.” — Najmul Hossain Shanto
Shanto highlighted the fact that Bangladesh will be more interested in playing good cricket for all five days of Test cricket. He knows that against teams like India, one needs to stick on the crease for long spells to build those big partnerships.
“We want to play as well as we can for five days,” Shanto continued. We will approach the game with the mindset that this is our opportunity to win the first ever in India; nevertheless,
we do not want to set unrealistic goals for ourselves. Instead, we want to focus on performing well over the five days and making every effort to play to our strengths.
Bangladesh Tigers never won a single Test match in India but Shanto strongly believes that the time has come.
He further marked that the success will depend on getting back to the fundamentals and the issue is avoiding complacency at the wrong time in the game.
Shanto added: “Playing in India is always challenging, but we know our capabilities well.
What we have to ensure is that we stick to our plans and remain as disciplined as possible.
Test cricket is all about waiting for the right opportunity and then capitalizing on it, and that is what we need to be prepared for. ”

About our bowling assault, we are doing well. Speed as well as spin,” Chanto said. “India may have more experience than our Pacers, but our Spin Attack is pretty nearly on par with them.
They are versatile bowlers. Our bowlers are versatile and have demonstrated their ability to take wickets in a variety of settings. Our bowlers, pacers, and even batters are prepared to offer their all.
Three spinners from Bangladesh – Shakib Al Hasan, Mehidi Hasan Miraj, and Taizul Islam – will be crucial to their success in Indian conditions, which are traditionally more cycling-friendly.
Despite his lack of experience in such a high-profile series, Shanto is optimistic about the performance of his pace bowlers Taskin Ahmed, Hasan Mahmood, and Syed Khalid Ahmed.
“Our pacers and spinners are training hard. And they are prepared for every situation we face. They have proven themselves in Pakistan. And now they have a chance to prove themselves in India,” Shanto said.
