In T20 cricket, Andre Russell of the West Indies has created history by becoming the fastest player in the history of the format to reach the 9,000-run milestone.

In accomplishing this feat, he reached this landmark in a mere 5,321 deliveries, eclipsing the earlier record established by Australia’s Glenn Maxwell who made it to the landmark in 5,915 balls.

Russell achieved this milestone when he was playing for Abu Dhabi Knight Riders in the ILT20 tournament in the UAE, during a match against Gulf Giants. This record attests to his acclaim as one of the most explosive batsmen in T20 cricket.

In his T20 career, Russell, 34, has played 536 matches and scored 9,004 runs at an average of 26.79 and an astounding strike rate of 169.15.

He has a total of 31 fifties and two hundreds to his name. He is also the 25th player to achieve 9,000 runs in T20 cricket.

On top of this, Russell has been a key player with bat in hand, taking 466 wickets at an average of 25.55 and economy rate of 8.71 in T20 matches.
