
Sydney, 20th January 2025 : The series started with an enthralling 1st T20I of Women’s Ashes at SCG.
England Women won the toss and opted to put the visitors to bat, setting the stage for a thrilling encounter.
Despite being severely impacted by injuries to key players Alyssa Healy and Ashleigh Gardner, Australia’s women replied quickly, with 11 runs for no loss after 0.5 overs.
However, they lost a wicket early on, Georgia Voll appeared on her T20I debut.
Heather Knight’s England Women went with a spin-heavy attack, bringing in legspinner Sarah Glenn, left-armer Sophie Ecclestone and offspinner Charlie Dean.
Australia Women countered with a two-pronged leg-spin attack, opting for both Alana King and Georgia Wareham.
Australia Women only need a draw in the Test match or win one of the three T20Is to retain the Ashes, so the match is set for a thrilling finish. England Women, however, is eager to come back and level the series
