South African skipper Temba Bavuma believes that the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 would be a more difficult task than the World Cup because of the format of the game.
only a few matches to be played in the Champions Trophy, Bavuma said every game is important and teams cannot afford to have a slow start.
The T20 World Cup 2024 runners-up and World Test Championship finalists South Africa kick off their campaign against Afghanistan on February 21 in Karachi. Even with a depleted squad and several key players injured, Bavuma is still hopeful for his team’s prospects.
Bavuma said they would be looking to see if a fresh face could stamp their mark on international cricket, particularly new talent that has been performing well in domestic and T20 leagues.
He also backed spinners Keshav Maharaj and Tabraiz Shamsi to be key performers in the tournament.
